Giants injury report, 9/12: Olivier Vernon “out there,” but doesn’t practice

Linebacker stays on the side nursing ankle injury

Turns out all that optimism about New York Giants outside linebacker Olivier Vernon was somewhat premature. Coach Pat Shurmur said Tuesday that he thought Vernon would be “out there” at practice.”

Per reporters at practice Vernon was “out there.” Whereas last week he did not appear at all, Vernon was apparently on the practice field but stayed on the side, riding a bike and then working with a trainer.

So, progress. Just perhaps not what we were expecting. Or hoping for.

Wide receiver Sterling Shepard (back) was an addition to the practice report. Wayne Gallman (knee) and linebacker Tae Davis (hamstring) were back at practice.
