NFL: Cleveland Browns at New York Giants Noah K. Murray-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Giants started their game against the Cleveland Browns with a bang.

39-yard run from Saquon Barkley put everyone on notice that the Giants have a threat running the ball. Unfortunately, things went downhill from there, with miscues forcing the team to settle for a field goal and then a series of stalled drives. Barkley was unable to replicate his exciting first run and twice showed the tendency to try to do too much, keeping the offense off schedule.

Davis Webb looked shaky when he took over the offense, overthrowing several receivers in his first three drives. He seemed to settle down in his final drive of the half, throwing with much better touch and accuracy, just missing a long touchdown when Kalif Raymond lost track of the ball in the air.

The Giants defense was largely stout, with the defensive front seven holding the Browns to just 27 yards in the first half. The pass rush routinely got pressure on both Tyrod Taylor and Baker Mayfield.

The secondary was victimized by the back-shoulder fade, though B.W. Webb made a nice play to save a touchdown. There were a pair of breakdowns in coverage on tight end David Njoku lead to touchdowns for both Taylor and Mayfield.

The Browns will get the ball to start the second half of the game.
