Giants’ RB Saquon Barkley leads NFL in jersey sales from March through May

The rookie running back’s gear is already flying off the shelves, and receiver Odell Beckham Jr. isn’t far behind.

The NFLPA released its list of the top-50 most merch-movingest players for the spring of 2018, and three New York Giants are on it. Rookie running back Saquon Barkley ranks a surprising fourth, receiver Odell Beckham Jr. came in at ninth and quarterback Eli Manning ranked 48th. The sales period spans from March 1st through May 31st and includes all merchandise, not just jerseys.

However, when broken down by category, Barkley comes in tops in jersey sales over the span; the NFLPA said that he led “by a wide margin,” impressive not just for a rookie but also when noting that eight of the top 10 best-selling jerseys belong to quarterbacks. He also came in second in youth jersey sales. Barkley is one of just five rookies on the top-50 list.

Sales of licensed Beckham gear were more varied. His youth jersey is among the top 10 in sales and in the top five in headware. He also lands in the top five of Fathead decals sold over the period.

Giants fans also apparently like Beckham for their — or their kids’ — birthdays. He leads the league in cake decorations sold this spring. And if you were wondering what that entails, two examples can be found here and here.

The top 10 in overall merchandise sales also features two Dallas Cowboys (Dak Prescott at No. 5 and Ezekiel Elliot at No. 7) and two Philadelphia Eagles (Nick Foles, No. 1 and Carson Wentz, No. 3).
