Former New York Giants running back Shane Vereen has found a new home. Vereen is signing with the New Orleans Saints, per a report from Mike Garafolo.

Vereen, mostly a third-down back and pass-catching specialist, spent three seasons with the Giants. He averaged 4.2 yards per carry (139 rushes, 582 yards) and caught 114 passes for 842 yards and 4 TDs. His best year was his first one with the Giants as he had a career-high 59 receptions in 2015.

A forearm injury derailed most of his 2016 season, limiting him to five games. He played all 16 games last season, but rushed for only 160 yards while catching 44 passes.

The Giants chose not retain the 29-year-old, even though his skillset seems a match for a Pat Shurmur offense.

Orleans Darkwa, who led the Giants in rushing last season with a career-best 751 yards, remains unsigned with NFL training camps starting next week.
