Some people think the New York Giants made a mistake when they selected Saquon Barkley with the second pick of the 2018 NFL draft.
The Giants, on the other hand, believe that they made the easiest possible choice and picked the best player in the draft.
Whether or not Barkley was a better pick than one of the top quarterback prospects is a question for another — much later — day.
But we can ask what kind of production we are looking for from the rookie.
Even reducing the scope, that’s still a bit of a loaded question. Are we looking for enough production to justify the pick, enough production to live up to his considerable media hype, enough production to help the Giants win in 2018?
ESPN Fantasy expert Mike Clay set this prediction for Barkley’s rookie season:
Projected 2018 stats: 1,133 yards rushing; 7 rushing TDs; 60 receptions; 533 yards receiving; 3 receiving TDs
So I put it to you, Giants fans, would that be a good, acceptable, or disappointing season for Barkley? What kind of production are you looking for from the Giants’ first round pick?
