Good morning, New York Giants fans! While you wait for Day 1 of mandatory mini-camp, here are some headlines for you to check out.
Lots of Eli Manning stuff
Giants quarterback Eli Manning attended the Guiding Eyes charity event on Monday. Media members weren’t far behind.
Manning offered a reaction to the comments by former teammates Shaun O’Hara and Justin Tuck that the Giants had “wasted” the last several years of Manning’s career.
“I still think I have some peak years left,” a confident Manning said at the Guiding Eyes for the Blind annual Golf Classic at Mount Kisco (N.Y.) Country Club. “So we can make it right.”
Manning didn’t bite when asked about the comments by O’Hara and Tuck:
“No, I don’t look at it that way,” the franchise quarterback said. “I appreciate those guys saying it, they’re teammates and I obviously won championships with both of them, so I think those guys are always loyal. But that’s not the way I look at it … I don’t look at it that way. I appreciate everything the Giants have done, and I’m excited about being there this year and taking advantage of this year.”
The quarterback also offered some contract advice to Odell Beckham Jr. He recalled that waiting for a deal to be done can be difficult:
“Even though it wasn’t really something that was on my mind you just had to keep answering questions about it,’’ Manning said. “It’s not something I discussed with people, but for whatever reason it becomes an issue. I didn’t harp on it, I didn’t worry about it, but the fact that it was in the papers or you had to answer about it, it can become a hassle.
“Hopefully, obviously everything with Odell and that, whether it gets solved or whatever, it’s something that you don’t have to keep answering about it.’’
More Eli Manning at @GuidingEyes charity today. He was asked whose arm is stronger, his or Davis Webb's: "He can probably have that. He’s got a live arm, but it’s alright. I can get it far enough and strong enough to get in the right spots and be on time.” #Giants— Pat Leonard (@PLeonardNYDN) June 11, 2018
TC’s surprise visit to the Landon Collins Charity Softball Game. He was only expected to provide the video below, not to show up in person.
So here's the story with Coach: Weeks ago i was i was informed that coach Coughlin would be in attendance for the event but just like the humble, genuine man he is i wasn't allowed to say anything as coach didn't want to make the event about him, classic coach. 2 days before event JayFund dropped a bomb on me and said TC IS OUT but will make a video for you. Devastated i patiently waited for this video while crying on the inside. As i looked across the field and saw coach walking in I immediately got the chills and a tad bit emotional. So yes people i had no idea as coach surprised everybody. Well done coach and @tcjayfund a surprise for ALL who attended. THANK YOU #thatsmycoach #giants #giantspride #nygiants #4246 #tc
