Did Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie hint at return to Giants?

Or, is he just teasing Giants fans?

Ever since the New York Giants released Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie after the veteran cornerback refused to accept a pay cut, many Giants fans have looked at the team’s depth chart at that position and pined for a return by DRC.

Could they get their wish?

At the Landon Collins Charity Softball Game on Saturday night, an event that raised $35K for the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund, DRC offered a cryptic comment:

“Y’all might see me again,” Rodgers-Cromartie told Art Stapleton of the Bergen Record.

Whether Rodgers-Cromartie meant with — or against — the Giants is anybody’s guess.

The Giants have an uncertain situation at cornerback beyond Janoris Jenkins and Eli Apple. They have veteran William Gay as the likely slot corner, then a host of journeymen and undrafted free agents fighting for roster spots.

Would Rodgers-Cromartie and the Giants circle back to each other after their contract disagreement earlier in the offseason? That has always seemed unlikely.

Could DRC have been referring to facing the Giants as an opponent? He did make a free agent to the NFC East rival Washington Redskins.

The 32-year-old remains a quality player, if not an every down one. He will find a home somewhere. Will it be back with the Giants? We will find out this summer.
