Saquon Barkley among four new Giants on NFL.com’s top 100 rookies

NFL.com likes the Giants’ draft class

NFL: NFL Draft Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

The immediate reaction to the New York Giants 2018 draft class is that the Giants knocked it out of the park. In the grades that emerged in the week following the draft, the Giants were typically given high marks.

A week after the draft concluded, NFL.com released their list of the projected Top 100 rookies from this draft class.

Four of the Giants’ six draft selections landed on the list, lead by Saquon Barkley who is the top projected rookie.

1) Saquon Barkley, RB, Giants

With big-strike ability on all three downs, Barkley can transform the Giants’ offense with an offensive line that should be improved thanks to the additions of Will Hernandez, Nate Solder, and Patrick Omameh.

32. Will Hernandez (Guard)

67. B.J. Hill (Defensive Tackle)

78. Lorenzo Carter (Linebacker)

It’s a bit interesting that Will Hernandez was one of the highest rated linemen in the draft, and it was considered a stunning surprise that he was available for the Giants’ second pick at in at 34th overall. It is also somewhat surprising that Lorenzo Carter is ranked 78th, and behind B.J. Hill, when he was considered by most analysts to be a sure-fire second round pick. Hill’s rating itself is a bit of a surprise as well, but his college defensive line coach believes the Giants got a steal in Hill.

All in all, the Giants have an exciting draft class that should add talent to the roster. How good their class will be won’t be known for a couple years, but fans should feel pretty good about the talent added.
