What did NFL.com get right, wrong about projected Giants’ starting lineup?

Let’s examine their projection

Who will be in the starting lineup for the New York Giants in 2018? We already know most of the answers, but there are a handful of spots in question. We have been reviewing positions and profiling players to give you some thoughts, but NFL.com has gone ahead and projected a starting lineup.

Let’s see what they have right, and what they have wrong.

Offense

QB: Eli Manning
RB: Saquon Barkley
WR: Odell Beckham
WR: Sterling Shepard
WR: Roger Lewis
TE: Evan Engram
LT: Nate Solder
LG: Will Hernandez
C: Brett Jones
RG: Patrick Omameh
RT: Chad Wheeler

Only two questions here — right tackle and third wide receiver. I believe both spots are wide open, and it is entirely possible that the answers are not currently on the roster.

Defense

DE: Dalvin Tomlinson
DT: Damon Harrison
DE: Robert Thomas
OLB: Olivier Vernon
ILB: B.J. Goodson
ILB: Alec Ogletree
OLB: Kareem Martin
CB: Janoris Jenkins
CB: Eli Apple
S: Landon Collins
S: Darian Thompson

Three questions here.

  1. How does the defensive line rotation shake out?
  2. How much playing time will rookie Lorenzo Carter take from Kareem Martin?
  3. Will Andrew Adams push Darian Thompson for the safety spot?
