Lists, of any kind, are to some degree subjective. The NFL offseason, at least the period between the draft and the beginning of training camp is filled with lists and rankings. They aren’t all worth talking about, but one that is worth a discussion is the Pro Football Focus list of the top 25 players under the age of 25.
The only member of the New York Giants on the current list is 24-year-old safety Landon Collins, who checked in at No. 3 with PFF saying:
Collins’ 2016 performance was one of the best for a safety in the PFF era. His 92.5 overall grade that year ranked sixth all time among safeties. This past year, on a Giants’ team that saw regression at large, Collins managed to put up another near-elite season, checking in with an 88.5 overall grade. Over the past two seasons, no safety has racked up more than Collins’ 46 run stops.
Collins is deserving of being on the list, and at least in my view of being that high. What I really want to do, though, is fast forward to when PFF puts out this list next offseason. Which other Giants do you think will be on it?
Saquon Barkley is 21. Lorenzo Carter, Will Hernandez and Eli Apple are 22. Evan Engram is 23. How many of those players do you believe will be in consideration for this list a year from now?
