Meet the coaches: Giants assistants available to media on Wednesday

It’s a small thing, but we get to ask real coaches some real questions on Wednesday

Quest

New York Giants assistant coaches will be available to the media for the first time on Wednesday at the team’s practice facility in East Rutherford, N.J.

That means it will be our first chance to ask new defensive coordinator James Bettcher directly about his defense. Will he plan to utilize Landon Collins as a “moneybacker,” the way he used Deone Bucannon with the Arizona Cardinals? Will Olivier Vernon be a stand-up outside linebacker in 3-4 alignments? Why did the team trade Jason Pierre-Paul, and do the Giants need help in the draft to replace him? What does Bettcher like about Kareem Martin and Alec Ogletree?

It will be our first chance to query offensive coordinator Mike Shula. There will, I’m sure, be Davis Webb questions. There will be Eli Manning questions. Odell Beckham Jr. questions — which my guess is will be deflected to head coach Pat Shurmur. There will be questions for him about handling a role where he won’t be the primary play caller.

Offensive line coach Hal Hunter figures to be a popular interview. There will be questions about Ereck Flowers moving to right tackle, and improving this group overall.

It should be an interesting day. Is there anyone you really want to hear from, or anything you really want to know? Yours truly will be on hand at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center, intending to talk with as many of the coaches as possible.
