Saquon Barkley, hog mollies, a QB, more in the first draft class assembled by Dave Gettleman. How’d he do?

With the 2018 NFL Draft officially in the books for the New York Giants, let’s look back at each pick. Oh, and the volumes of reading material we provided you about each player, as well.

Round 1 (No. 2 overall) — Saquon Barkley, RB, Penn State

Best player in the draft. A player GM Dave Gettleman gave a perfect 9.0 grade, only the second he had ever awarded. The other went to Peyton Manning.

Round 2 (No. 34) — Will Hernandez, OG, UTEP

Gettleman called the 327-pound mauler of a run blocker “exactly what we’re looking for.”

Round 3 (No. 66) — Lorenzo Carter, OLB, Georgia

“He’s an outside edge pass rusher. We need pass rushers, every team needs pass rushers – c’mon,” said Gettleman

Round 3 (No. 69) — B.J. Hill, DT, N.C. State

Gettleman called him “an inside power broker ... a powerful, tough son of a gun.”

Round 4 (No. 108) — Kyle Lauletta, QB, Richmond

Competition for Davis Webb as backup and heir apparent to Eli Manning.

Round 5 (No. 139) — R.J. McIntosh, DT, Miami

More defensive line depth. A guy who seems destined to be a 5-tech defensive end for the Giants.
