Saquon Barkley is home.

The newest member of the New York Giants, selected with the No. 2 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft on Thursday night, is a native of the Bronx. Feeling like he is going home to play in the NFL, though, is about being a Giant.

“You see all the reports and you hear all the reports, but I got a feeling after the visit, when I got to formally meet all of the coaches and GM and everybody in the building. Leaving there, I just felt like that’s home. That’s the place where I wanted to be,” Barkley said Thursday night. “Obviously in the Draft, you don’t decide where you want to go, but if I had to pick, that would be the place that I would pick. Walking into that facility and you see the four Super Bowl rings just hanging in a trophy case, that right there just shows you the mindset and the standard of that place. And that’s where you want to be and that’s a place you want to be a part of.”

After that visit, Barkley was photographed wearing a Giants hoodie while out getting a haircut. He said that was not intentional.

“I know you guys would love for me to say that it was intentional, but in all honesty, it was a sweatshirt that I got actually from the visit [to the facility]. You get that from other teams when you visit and I had to go get a haircut and I went to the barber shop and I was running late and I just got out of the shower, so I just grabbed it and went,” he said. “And I put it on, not even thinking about anything, but someone snapped a picture of me and I guess it got to TMZ. But, hey, I guess it all worked out for the best.”

Now Barkley can wear Giants gear any time he wants.
