A signing that has been rumored for a couple of days, that of former Arizona Cardinals defensive lineman Josh Mauro, was made official by the New York Giants early Monday evening.
Mauro is familiar to defensive coordinator James Bettcher. Originally an undrafted free agent, the 27-year-old spent four seasons with the Arizona Cardinals. He started 26 of the 47 regular-season games in which he played.
Mauro becomes the fourth free agent signed by the very busy Giants on Monday. He joins defensive end Kerry Wynn, wide receiver Cody Latimer, and cornerback B.W. Webb.
Previously, the Giants had signed left tackle Nate Solder, guard Patrick Omameh, cornerbacks Teddy Williams and Curtis Riley, running back Jonathan Stewart, and linebacker Kareem Martin. Both Martin and Mauro played for Bettcher in Arizona.
