Divisional Round - Jacksonville Jaguars v Pittsburgh Steelers Photo by Brett Carlsen/Getty Images

Good morning, New York Giants fans! And it is a good morning, despite the snow in the Northeast and the decision by Andrew Norwell to sign with the Jacksonville Jaguars instead of the Giants.

Call it karma. Tom Coughlin gets the player Dave Gettleman and the Giants wanted to be the cornerstone of their offensive line rebuild. Remember, there is no personal income tax in Florida, and you have to think pocketing more of the money instead of coughing it up to Uncle Sam had to be a factor.

“Kudos” to Chris for getting to the Norwell story quickly. Here are some other headlines for you this morning.

Rams trade Alec Ogletree and 7th round pick to the Giants for 4th and 6th round pick

Ogletree just missed my cutoff for worst contracts signed in 2017. He isn’t an elite player yet he is paid elite money at a position that is generally reasonable from a salary perspective. The Giants will pick up a $10 million salary for this season and gave away more than the Dolphins did to acquire Quinn. Rams shed $5.2 million in cap space for the year with the cut.

Probably one of the most heavily criticized units in the entire NFL, the Giants’ offensive line failed to prove critics wrong. Nevertheless, left tackle Ereck Flowers showed a small improvement and put together the best season of his career. Although, admittedly, the bar was not set high and this performance earned Flowers just the 54th-highest grade among offensive tackles. Injuries also hurt the unit as there were nine different New York offensive linemen who played at least 250 snaps this past season. In addition, their offensive line allowed 27 sacks in 2017, which was the fourth-most in the NFL.
