NFL free agency 2018: Jets reportedly interested in Giants RB Orleans Darkwa

Back had a breakout year for Giants in 2017

The New York Jets are reportedly interested in Giants running back Orleans Darkwa. The running back, who broke onto the scene last season for Big Blue, is a pending free agent.

Darkwa, 26, had the best season of his career in 2017. He rushed for 751 yards in 15 games last season, including 4.4 yards per carry and five touchdowns. His best game came in Week 17 against the Washington Redskins, where he ran for 154 yards on 20 carries, including a touchdown in the 18-10 win.

In his career, Darkwa has rushed for 1,038 yards on 246 carries and nine touchdowns, good for 4.2 yards per carry. He is known for his ability to run downhill up the middle and that is something that the Jets don't have on their roster for the 2018 season.

The Jets found out earlier this week that veteran running back Matt Forte has decided to retire. This leaves a glaring need for a power back, and Darkwa might be their guy.
