Super Bowl 53 odds: Can New York Giants go from 3-13 to champs?

Las Vegas oddsmakers don’t like their chances

The Philadelphia Eagles just went from worst to first, following a 7-9 last place in the NFC East 2016 season with a victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 52. Can the New York Giants follow that same path next season.

Oddsmakers are not giving Big Blue a very big chance.

Bovada lists the Giants at 50-1 odds to be Super Bowl 53 champs. Only six teams, the Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, New York Jets and Cincinnati Bengals at 66-1 and the Chicago Bears and Cleveland Browns at 100-1 have longer odds.

The BetDSI Sportsbook has listed odds for the next two years, and they are not kind to the Giants, either. BetDSI has the Giants listed at +6000, with only seven teams having longer odds for next season. For Super Bowl 54, BetDSI lists the Giants at +10000, the longest odds in the field. Ouch!

Coming off a 3-13 season, the Giants have a steeper mountain to climb that the Eagles did. There is much for GM Dave Gettleman and coach Pat Shurmur to accomplish to get the Giants back into contention, but quick turnarounds do happen in the NFL and the Giants’ cupboard isn’t bare.

With those odds, would you put money down on the Giants to win either of the next two Super Bowl titles?
