The New York Giants announced early on Saturday that they were placing wide receiver/kick returner Jawill Davis on injured reserve with a knee injury.

Turns out, the injury was a self-inflicted one. Davis apparently dislocated a kneecap while dancing in the team’s locker room on Saturday. Wide receiver Alonzo Russell has been promoted from the practice squad to replace Davis.

A rookie undrafted free agent, Davis caught four passes in seven games. He averaged 24.4 yards on seven kickoff returns and 7.4 yards on 12 punt returns.

Davis has been returning punts in recent weeks after Quadree Henderson was placed on IR.
