The New York Giants are placing cornerback Antonio Hamilton on season-ending injured reserve with a quad injury, per a published report.

Acquired on waivers from the Oakland Raiders at the beginning of the season, Hamilton did not play a single defensive snap. He did, however, emerge as a key special teams contributor. He played 236 special teams snaps, and was one of the key players on the Giants’ coverage teams.

Hamilton had six special teams tackles this season.

The Giants have not made an official announcement, thus a corresponding roster move is not yet known. The Giants do, however, have to make a decision on whether or not to bring back wide receiver/special teamer Cody Latimer from injured reserve this week. With the status of Odell Beckham Jr. also still uncertain, perhaps activating Latimer is a move we will see this week.

The 5-9 Giants have two games remaining, beginning with a road encounter with the Indianapolis Colts this Sunday.
