Have the New York Giants gotten another break in their unlikely quest to go from 1-7 to 8-8 and the NFC playoffs? There are multiple reports that Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz has a fracture in his back. Wentz will not play Sunday when the Eagles face the Los Angeles Rams and may not play again this season.
That means Super Bowl hero Nick Foles will be back in the spotlight. The 6-7 Eagles are one of the teams the 5-8 Giants need to pass to reach the playoffs. The Giants need the Eagles to lose at least two of their final three games. In addition to the Rams, the Eagles face the Houston Texans and Washington Redskins.
There is reportedly some controversy over when Wentz suffered this injury and why it didn’t show up on a CT scan until now.
In regards to Wentz’s status for the remainder of the season Ian Rapoport tweeted “No determination has been made on Injured Reserve … but they won’t put him at risk. Looking more likely we’ll next see him in ‘19.”
