Odell Beckham still sidelined by quad injury

Shurmur says Beckham is “getting better” despite sitting out again

NFL: New York Giants at Philadelphia Eagles Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Odell Beckham Jr. won’t practice for the New York Giants on Wednesday, per coach Pat Shurmur. In his Wednesday morning remarks to reports, Shurmur indicated that Beckham (quad) did the morning walk-thru but won’t work in the full practice.

Beckham, who wasn’t listed on the Giants’ injury report until Friday, sat out Sunday’s victory over the Washington Redskins.

The receiver had indicated that he initially suffered the injury two weeks ago when he was leg-whipped on the final play of the game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Shurmur did tell reporters that Beckham is “getting better.”

It also sounded as if Shurmur had asked Beckham, who usually speaks to media on Wednesdays, not to discuss details of his injury.

“And I encourage our players not to talk about their injuries,” Shurmur said, per accounts from reporters on site.” So hopefully that’s about all you’ll get out of it.”

Other injury news

Shurmur indicated that safety Landon Collins had undergone shoulder surgery for his torn labrum this week. He also indicated that tight end Rhett Ellison (ankle) would not practice on Wednesday.
