The New York Giants begin the second half of a season that is, realistically, already over when they travel to California to face the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football. The Giants are 1-7. The 49ers are 2-7.
The Giants will start Eli Manning at quarterback. Is this the beginning of Manning’s final stretch as the team’s quarterback, or can he show over the remainder of the season that he could be viable for another season?
That is one of many questions the Giants have to answer over the remainder of the season, as they begin to focus on what their team will look like in 2019.
Coach Pat Shurmur has indicated that the immediate focus is on trying to win each game.
“We’ve got eight games left, but we’re pointing toward one game and that’s always been the case,” Shurmur said. “I’ve said it all along, I feel like we can go in and beat every team we play if we play the right way throughout the game.”
