The New York Giants have a short but perhaps significant injury list heading into Monday night’s game against the San Francisco 49ers.
Only three players — kick returner/wide receiver Jawill Davis (concussion), linebacker Alec Ogletree (hamstring) and offensive tackle Chad Wheeler (ankle) are on the report. Davis, who missed the last two games, was limited. Ogletree and Wheeler were full practice participants.
With Quadree Henderson, who returned kicks in Davis’s absence, no longer on the 53-man roster Davis would by the likely return man if he is cleared. Coach Past Shurmur indicated Thursday that Henderson could still be the return man on Monday, and perhaps this is why.
The Giants seem likely to make a switch to the offensive line on Monday with newly-acquired Jamon Brown being inserted into the lineup. While Wheeler practiced in full, if he were judged not to be ready for Monday that would further complicate things along that group.
