The Washington Redskins have lost a plethora of players to injuries over the past couple of weeks but today’s may hurt the most. Veteran quarterback Alex Smith left Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans with a gruesome ankle injury. Below is a tweet from Brad Galli showing the injury.

It appears that Smith’s right ankle gets caught in the turf, causing his leg to snap and ankle to break. Smith was taken to a local hospital following the injury and the team is awaiting tests to confirm any injuries.
Smith, 34, struggled before the injury, completing just 12-of-27 passes for 135 yards and two interceptions. Colt McCoy stepped in for Smith following the injury.
