Ereck Flowers says Jacksonville “a better fit” for him

But, does anyone really care?

Ereck Flowers is a man of few words. The ex-New York Giants offensive tackle, now with the Jacksonville Jaguars, said enough to the Jacksonville media this week to make it clear he’s happy to be out of New York.

Moved from left tackle to right tackle when the Giants signed Nate Solder, Flowers was benched in favor of Chad Wheeler after two weeks. He didn’t play after that and was released.

“I expected it [release], it wasn’t a shock to me,” Flowers said. “I actually was looking forward to another opportunity. To go from that situation to getting a chance a play here and [possibly] get into the playoffs that would be 100 percent perfect. That would be like ‘wow.’”

Flowers is now closer to his native Miami, and when he gets into the Jacksonville lineup — perhaps this week — it will be at left tackle. He is also back with Tom Coughlin and his first offensive line coach, Pat Flaherty.

“Great opportunities, great team and I’m happy to be here,” Flowers said. “Definitely a fresh start for me. I like it here, man. I think this will be a better fit. They have a great locker room, great guys. I’m grateful to be here.”
