Sorry to squash your dreams first thing in the morning New York Giants fans, but Bill Belichick sounded Monday like a man who has no interest in being the team’s coach next season.

During a conference call Belichick told reporters that he “absolutely” intends to coach the New England Patriots next season.

Belichick was asked directly about the reports he might be interested in the Giants’ opening.

“Right now my interest is trying to do the best I can for our football team to get ready for Saturday night against Tennessee. That’s where my total focus is,” he said.

He also was brusque in his comments about the ESPN article regarding discord between himself, owner Robert Kraft and quarterback Tom Brady.

“Well, first of all, I don’t really know what you’re talking about. I haven’t read the article, so I don’t know what that refers to,” Belichick said. “We’ve been through this before and I know you want to report on things that are inaccurate and unattributable and I’m not really interested in responding to all of those random and, I would say in a lot of cases, baseless comments.”

“My relationship can be repaired with him,” Collins said of Apple, with whom he feuded through the media this season. “Our relationship can be mended. I don’t know what his mindset is right now. He’s kind of all over the place right now. You can see that with his Twitter rant. We got to have an understanding why he’s playing football, because you got to be playing football to be one of the best players, not to be on the team and blowing your opportunity.”
