Add Jim Schwartz to the list of candidates the New York Giants will interview for their vacant head-coaching position. Per Adam Schefter, the Giants will interview the Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator this weekend in Philly.

A report last weekend termed Schwartz, who spent five years as head coach of the Detroit Lions, the “favorite” for the job. Interviews with six other candidates (Steve Spagnuolo, Josh McDaniels, Matt Patricia, Steve Wilks, Eric Studesville, Pat Shurmur) had been set up before the Giants set up an interview with Schwartz.

Who actually is the favorite for the job? That depends on who you ask.

Some believe it is still Schwartz. Others believe Giants’ ownership is enamored of the idea of plucking a coach off the New England Patriots tree, meaning McDaniels or Patricia.

If prior head-coaching experience is desired then Patricia, Studesville and Wilks would be long shots.

Right now, truth is everyone is guessing. The interview process has begun, however, so we are inching closer to finding out who will coach the Giants in 2018.
