It looks like the New York Giants are set to add three more assistant coaches to the staff being assembled by new head coach Pat Shurmur.
Alex Marvez of Sporting News is reporting that Lou Anarumo (defensive backs), Bill McGovern (linebackers) and Gary Emanuel (defensive line) will be part of the staff.
McGovern, Giants linebackers coach for the past two seasons, is thus far the only holdover from Ben McAdoo’s staff. McGovern and Shurmur worked together with the Philadelphia Eagles from 2013-2015.
Anarumo was defensive backs coach with the Miami Dolphins the past six seasons, and also served as the team’s defensive coordinator in 2015. He is a Staten Island native who played and coached at Wagner. He has also coached at Syracuse, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Harvard, Marshall, and Purdue.
Emanuel has been with the Indianapolis Colts since 2012. He was also defensive line coach of the San Francisco 49ers in 2005 and 2006. He has also spent 28 seasons coaching in the college ranks, including the 2008 and 2009 seasons at Rutgers.
None of the hires have been officially announced. Shurmur, though, appears to have built his defensive and special teams staffs. The remaining questions are regarding who will fill out the offensive coaching staff. Here, though, is what the group of assistant coaches is believed to look like.
