Another ex-New York Giants assistant coach has reportedly found a new employer. The Green Bay Packers are apparently naming former Giants quarterbacks coach Frank Cignetti to the same position.
Cignetti was Giants’ quarterbacks coach the past two seasons.
GM Dave Gettleman had given Giants’ assistants permission to seek other jobs while the team searches for a head coach. Former Giants’ offensive coordinator Mike Sullivan was the first to leave, accepting a job as quarterbacks coach of the Denver Broncos.
There are reports that Giants’ defensive line coach Patrick Graham will interview for that same job with the Packers.
The Giants, of course, are continuing their search for a head coach. Former Denver running backs coach Eric Studesville is expected to interview Wednesday. He would join Steve Spagnuolo, Josh McDaniels, Matt Patricia, Pat Shurmur and Steve Wilks as candidates who have interviewed.
The shuffling of assistant coaches around the league is one reason why the Giants might be anxious to hire a head coach sooner rather than later.
