Odell Beckham Jr. On Field For First Time Since Injury (UPDATED)

Wide receiver stretches, works on side

Odell Beckham Jr. took a first step on Wednesday toward possibly playing Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys. The New York Giants wide receiver joined his teammates on the field for practice, going through stretching and then working individually on the side during the portion of practice the media was able to watch.

Beckham was officially listed as “Did Not Practice” by the Giants. He said after practice that he was “itching” to play.

“I wouldn’t count it out,” Beckham said. “My heart’s just not gonna make this easy.”

Beckham injured an ankle during the Giants’ second preseason game and has not practiced since. The only time he had been seen working on the field prior to Wednesday was during warm-ups for the team’s final preseason game last Thursday, when he caught passes but did no running.

Beckham appeared to move without a limp while jogging lightly during the stretching period on Wednesday. He had no visible protection on his leg or ankle.

Linebacker Keenan Robinson (concussion) was at practice wearing a red non-contact jersey. Defensive tackle Jay Bromley (knee) and cornerback Eli Apple (ankle) were on the field.
