Cornerback Janoris Jenkins, who missed Monday night’s game against the Detroit Lions with an ankle injury, was not at practice Thursday for the New York Giants. Jenkins also did not practice on Wednesday.
Jackrabbit’s injury was initially not considered to be serious, but “worsened as the week went on,” according to coach Ben McAdoo.
“He didn’t practice, but he has not had a setback,” McAdoo added on Thursday.
Without Jenkins, Ross Cockrell, acquired from the Pittsburgh Steelers in a trade right before the season, filled in as the third corner. He played 39 snaps.
Jenkins specializes in dealing with big, physical receivers. Sunday’s foe, the Philadelphia Eagles, has one of those in Alshon Jeffrey.
Offensive tackle Bobby Hart (ankle), linebacker B.J. Goodson (shin) and linebacker J.T. Thomas were all on the bikes during the portion of practice that was open to the media.
McAdoo said Hart “re-aggravated” his ankle injury during the two snaps he played against Detroit. Justin Pugh moved to right tackle and Brett Jones filled in at left guard in his absence. McAdoo said Wednesday that it would be “dumb” for him to reveal how the offensive line would be configured if Hart is unable to play Sunday.
“We’re going to take a look at all of our players. We’re going to put the best five out there,” he said. “Wherever they line up is where they line up.”
Keenan Robinson Returns
Linebacker Keenan Robinson was a full participant in practice for the first time in more than a month. Robinson suffered a concussion early in training camp, was released from the league’s concussion protocol and then went back into the protocol Aug. 18. Thursday was his first full practice since then.
Evan Engram Update
The rookie tight end was on the field with his teammates Thursday, but was wearing a red non-contact jersey.
“Evan is in the protocol,” McAdoo said.
