Odell Beckham Jr. appeared to do more at Thursday’s practice than he had done last week. That could be good news for the 0-1 New York Giants as they prepare for Monday night’s game against the Detroit Lions.
Head coach Ben McAdoo would only say that Beckham was “limited” during practice.
Beckham, of course, missed the season opener against the Dallas Cowboys with an ankle injury. Thursday, he ran forward and backward, stood one-legged on his injured ankle, did some jumping up and down and took part in individual workouts, catching some passes while media was allowed to watch. That is more than he did a week ago when he stretched, worked on the side and did some light straight-line jogging.
There had been an earlier report that there was “a lot of optimism” that Beckham would be able to play against the Lions.
Is McAdoo optimistic Beckham will play Monday Night? “More than last week. We got him out there,” he said.
McAdoo knows what Beckham brings to the table.
“Odell’s a dynamic playmaker, he brings a lot of energy to the football game,” McAdoo said. “One of the best players in the league, regardless of position.”
