Odell Beckham Jr. will be among the New York Giants’ inactive players Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys.
Beckham’s availability for the Giants’ opening week game against their division rivals has been in doubt since the scary moment in the second preseason game between the Giants and Cleveland Browns.
At the time it appeared as though Beckham had a potentially devastating knee injury, but subsequent tests revealed an ankle sprain. Since then he has received treatment in hopes of playing tonight, but it just wasn’t to be. Ultimately, the Giants couldn’t risk Beckham’s health for the whole season in the first week.
The question now becomes whether or not he will take the field against the Detroit Lions in Week 2. The good news for the Giants is that it is a Monday night game and Beckham will get an extra day to heal.
Now we will get to see if the Giants’ efforts to diversify their offense and lessen their reliance on Beckham to be their entire offense were effective.
