With the NFL regular season creeping closer and closer, NFL.com released power rankings on Tuesday and the New York Giants came in at No. 6. The Giants were the highest-ranked team to come out of the NFC East, even ahead of the Dallas Cowboys, who came in at No. 8. Big Blue will look to prove their ranking true as they take on the Pittsburgh Steelers on Friday in their first preseason game.

Here is the explanation for why the Giants came in at No. 6:

Yes. Giants over Cowboys. For now. The right side of the offensive line is a concern, as is the running game. Well, the Seahawks don't prioritize their offensive line. The Cowboys' defense -- namely those who aren't suspended or in trouble with the law -- can't compete with either team. All three are more set at quarterback than the Chiefs. Therein lies the explanation for New York at sixth. The air game could be an air raid, if Eli Manning plays like he did in 2014 and '15, rather than last year's so-so campaign. Weapons? Many.

The Giants added a plethora of weapons this off-season to give Eli Manning everything he needs to take this team to the next level. New York could have easily been higher on this power ranking if they did a better job improving their offensive line.

Giants fans will get their first look at the new and improved Giants roster on Friday in their first preseason game. While the starters won’t play significant snaps, everyone will still get a good taste of what this roster is shaping up to be.
