WNEP news is reporting that former New York Giants tight end Adrien Robinson was arrested Monday night for drug possession on Interstate 80, near Milton in Pennsylvania.
Police say that Robinson was stopped for a traffic violation when officers found large bags of marijuana in his car, totaling a reported 25 pounds.
The Giants drafted Robinson out of the University of Cincinnati in the fourth round of the 2012 draft. At the time, Robinson was almost purely a blocking tight end who was a raw project as a receiver. The Giants hoped that his eye-popping athletic numbers would eventually translate into a height/weight/speed match-up problem for defenses.
He did little with the team and was never able to capitalize on his impressive athleticism, notching just five receptions for 50 yards and a touchdown in his Giants’ career. He was waived in the final cut-down before the 2015 season.
Most recently, Robinson was signed to a futures deal with the New York Jets in early 2016 before being released in May of that year.
Police say that Robinson has been released on bail.
