The New York Giants have one preseason game remaining, Thursday night vs. the New England Patriots. It’s a game NFL teams hope to get through without using veteran starters much, if at all.
With that in mind, the Giants Monday signed their second cornerback in two days. Ian Rapoport was first to report that the Giants are adding rookie cornerback Daniel Gray, an undrafted free agent who was recently cut by the Arizona Cardinals. The Giants have yet to make the move official, so the corresponding move to make room for Gray is not yet known. Sunday, the Giants claimed cornerback Tay Glover-Wright off waivers, waiving Evan Schwan after he suffered a fractured foot vs. the New York Jets.
Second-year cornerback Eli Apple has an ankle injury and Michael Hunter is in the concussion protocol. The Giants likely don’t want to use Janoris Jenkins or Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, so they need players at corner.
