The New York Giants have announced that they have signed defensive back Tim Scott.
Scott was signed to fill the roster spot vacancy created when cornerback Valentino Blake was placed on the Exempt/Left Squad list.
No reason has been given as to why Blake left the Giants, but while on the list the Giants are able to sign a player without formally waiving Blake.
Scott was signed as an undrafted free agent out of North Carolina by the Dallas Cowboys in 2015, but was waived during the season. He was signed by the Washington Redskins later that season that season. He was out of the NFL in 2016.
The 5-foot-11, 195-pound Scott had 212 tackles, 25 passes defensed, and 8 interceptions while at North Carolina.
Questions regarding the Giants’ depth at cornerback have only increased since Michael Hunter Jr. suffered a concussion against the Cleveland Browns. Scott will help provide depth for the preseason, but will have to earn anything beyond that.
