Good morning, New York Giants fans! Let’s see what is happening with your favorite team today.
B.J. Goodson Taking Charge
MIddle linebacker B.J. Goodson might be the new guy on a veteran defense. He is, though, the middle linebacker and signal caller. He isn’t shying away from it.
“I’m running the show. So, at the end of the day, what I say goes,” Goodson said. “The guys trust me. He (Steve Spagnuolo) trusts me and that’s what matters.”
Weston Richburg: Trust The Process
The offensive line was considered a weak link for the Giants a season ago. That same group has struggled in the Giants’ first two preseason games.
“It’s always a process. I think if we ever think that we’re at a point where we’re good, we’re not,” said center Weston Richburg. “As athletes, we always talk about the process, and I think we talked the other day about if you reach a goal, set up another one and continue to get better. I think it’s always a process for us. We’re always trying to find ways to get better and make ourselves better as a team.”
DRC Gets Experience At Safety
Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie isn’t ready to move from cornerback to safety in an effort to extend his career. He did, however, get some experience at safey Monday against the Cleveland Browns. He said playing safety could “easily” extend his career, but he isn’t expecting to be asked to go there just yet.
“it was probably just a one-time thing. We’re just getting looks everywhere, seeing what kind of packages we could use, but I definitely don’t think I’d be back there like that,” he said.
Olivier Vernon: “A hit’s a hit”
Some of his teammates reacted angrily to the hit that injured Odell Beckham Jr. Defensive end Olivier Vernon had a more measured reaction.
“A hit’s a hit,” Vernon said. “Unfortunately, you wouldn’t want somebody trying to tackle you like that in a preseason game, but it is football, so things like that happen.”
