Injury Roundup: Giants Take Beating In Cleveland

The Giants lost some key players to injury, but for how long?

The story of the New York Giants Monday night game against the Cleveland Browns is undoubtedly the injury to Odell Beckham Jr., but the Giants had a number of other players get hurt during the game.

Odell Beckham - Ankle

Obviously the injury that has everyone’s attention. Beckham took a nasty-looking hit from Briean Boddy-Calhoun while making a reception on a deep play-action pass. Beckham quickly cleared the concussion protocol and X-rays were negative. However, he has been (initially) diagnosed with a sprained ankle. There will be further tests tomorrow to determine the exact extent of the injury. He was later seen on the sidelines in street clothes and without a walking boot.

Howard Cross has reported that it is a “slightly” sprained ankle and Beckham said this after game:

We can be sure that Beckham will receive the full battery of tests once back in New Jersey.

Brandon Marshall - Shoulder

Marshall took a hard hit while attempting to make a catch. He stayed in the game but later went in for X-rays on his shoulder.

Tavarres King - Ankle

King landed awkwardly while being tackled, getting his ankle wrenched at an unnatural (and unsettling) angle. It was the same ankle he previously injured this summer and King was quickly ruled out.

Michael Hunter Jr. - Concussion

Hunter has had a strong off-season and had worked his way into being one of the Giants’ primary backup cornerbacks. He left the game after a hard hit and has been diagnosed with a concussion.
