Earlier today we asked which New York Giants players might get eclipsed Monday night.
It was supposed to be a harmless pun, all in good fun and a play on today’s historic event.
I did not think that Odell Beckham Jr. would be the player “eclipsed” today.
Literally.
The post earlier today included a PSA (of sorts) to NOT look directly at the sun, eclipsed or not, without appropriate eye protection.
Odell, apparently, did not get my message.
Looking at the sun, under pretty much any circumstance, without protection is a great way to do lasting harm to your vision. Beckahm probably didn’t look long enough to do any immediate damage, but hopefully there won’t be any lasting damage as well. Looking at the sun without protection can literally cook your retinas.
Thankfully he wasn’t using binoculars or a telescope (without a filter), to watch the eclipse.
Beckham has had a very quiet off-season, apart from speculation regarding his absence from the first phase. We were probably due for a face-palm moment.
