New York Giants’ offensive lineman Michael Bowie was reportedly charged on Friday with domestic assault. The story was first reported by News On 6 in Tulsa, OK.
Per News On 6, an arrest warrant has been issued for Bowie on charges of domestic assault and battery, and malicious injury or destruction of property.
The Tulsa World says the incident happened in Bixby, Okla. and may have begun over finances. News On 6 states says the alleged incident took place on July 31.
News On 6 described the incident this way:
Bowie went to his girlfriend's place and got mad at her because he didn't like the way she'd talked to his mother, prosecutors allege.
Bowie grabbed her by the throat, threw her to the ground, punched a hole in the wall and broke two televisions, prosecutors allege.
Bowie, 25, is a third-team offensive lineman with the Giants. He will apparently not accompany the Giants to Cleveland for their game Monday night against the Cleveland Browns.
