New York Giants wide receiver Keeon Johnson suffered a broken foot during Thursday’s practice and has already had surgery, per a report from ESPN. Johnson, of course, will almost certainly land on injured reserve.
An undrafted free agent out of Virginia, the 22-year-old Johnson was a long shot to make the team. Nonetheless, Johnson had been performing well during recent practices.
The Giants are a bit thin currently at wide receiver.
Johnson is the second wide receiver the Giants have lost to injury this week, as Kevin Norwood was waived/injured earlier in the week. Kevin Snead has not been practicing because of a hamstring injury. Darius Powe has missed a couple of practices because of what NJ Advance Media says is a “minor hamstring injury.” Dwayne Harris missed practice Thursday because of upper body soreness.
The Giants signed former Rutgers wide receiver Andrew Turzilli earlier this week. With Johnson down and other guys not practicing, they may have to add another receiver.
