Report: Dallas Cowboys Won’t Sign Ex-Giants’ Quarterback Ryan Nassib

Eli’s former backup worked out in Dallas

UPDATE 5:20 p.m. ET: The Cowboys apparently will not sign Ryan Nassib.

Outside of Johnathan Hankins and Victor Cruz, it has been a quiet offseason for former New York Giants.

Todd Archer of ESPN is reporting that another former Giant is getting a shot elsewhere.

The Giants moved up in the fourth round of the 2013 draft to select Nassib out of Syracuse. There was a belief that Nassib could eventually be a starting quarterback should Eli Manning be injured or leave the franchise, but it never materialized in New York. That — of course — is due in large part to Manning’s impressive durability.

Since being drafted by the Giants, Nassib played in five games, completing nine passes on 10 attempts for 128 yards and a touchdown. His 2016 season ended when elbow surgery landed him on the injured reserve in late December.

With Kellen Moore, Cooper Rush, and Zac Dysert behind Dak Prescott on the Dallas depth chart, if Nassib’s elbow is healthy, he has the opportunity to make the roster.
