Mulligans apparently are not reserved for weekend golfers. The New York Giants have taken a mulligan on a roster move they made after rookie mini-camp. The Giants confirmed Friday that have re-signed cornerback Nigel Tribune and cut cornerback SaQwan Edwards.
When the Giants signed Edwards two weeks ago they cut Tribune to make room. Tribune, 5-foot-11, 195 pounds, is an undrafted free agent from Iowa State. Edwards was on the practice squad of the Oakland Raiders in 2015 and on IR last season.
This answers the question of whether or not Edwards could provide the Giants with cornerback depth.
Tribune joins a group of young corners including Michael Hunter, Donte Deayon and Mykkele Thompson who are trying to earn spots on the 53-man roster.
Earlier Thursday, we learned that the Giants had signed wide receiver Jerome Lane Jr. to replace wide receiver Jalen Williams, who was waived/injured. Williams cleared waivers and will revert to the Giants’ injured reserve list.
