The 2017 NFL Draft is almost here, which means it’s time to unveil Big Blue View’s final draft board.
In a change from previous big boards and previous years, “Invictus” and I opted to create a “Pro Style” two-axis big board. This board is a consensus between the two of us, based on both of our ratings. We also tried to take into account “Giants-Centric” views. We don’t actually know what the Giants’ board would look like or how they truly feel about any specific player. However, we tried to grade players with an eye toward what the Giants might like. Likewise, we have three players off our board due to off-field concerns: RB Joe Mixon, DT Caleb Brantley, and CB Gareon Conley. We do, however, list where they would be ranked.
In almost every draft press conference you hear general managers (and other officials) speak about players being arranged in ‘rows’ or ‘neighborhoods.’ When someone like Jerry Reese talks about “best player available,” that means he will take a player from the highest row, and will fit a need if there they have their choice of player.
This is our representation of that concept.
