Good morning, New York Giants fans! Here are five things you need to know to get your week started the right way.

The Combine’s coming!

The 2017 NFL Scouting Combine begins this week. On-field action runs from Friday thru Monday, but there will be plenty happening before then. We will have a complete preview a bit later, and lots of coverage throughout the week. Don’t miss any of it!

Free Agency: Defensive end market

The first domino has fallen in the defensive end market, with the Carolina Panthers re-signing Mario Addison to a three-year, $22.5 million contract. Addison, who turns 30 in September, had 9.5 sacks for the Panthers in 2016 and 22 of his 25 sacks over the past three seasons.

What does this mean for the Giants and Jason Pierre-Paul?

The value of the contract Addison signed, $7.5 million annually, is slightly more than the $7.1 million annual salary Spotrac had projected. The projection for Pierre-Paul is five years, $73.3 million, or $14.6 million annually.

Over The Cap believes Addison’s deal is the sign of an exploding market, since Carolina just gave that money to a six-year veteran who has all of four career starts.

McAdoo speaks this week

Giants’ coach Ben McAdoo will hold a press conference Wednesday morning at the Combine. This will be the first time McAdoo has spoken to the media since his season-ending press conference. Knowing McAdoo, he probably won’t say a whole lot. It will be interesting, though, to see if he offers any insights on why the Giants’ offense struggled so mightily in 2016.

Mock draft mania continues

It’s Monday, and that means Dan Kadar os SB Nation’s Mocking The Draft will soon be out with his latest mock draft. We will have an update on that as soon as it is available. In the meantime, check out our latest Mock Draft Tracker.
