Victor Cruz is now an ex-member of the New York Giants. He said Monday upon his release that he wants to continue playing, so let’s come up with a quick list of five potential landing spots for the former Giants star.
Philadelphia Eagles
How ironic would this be? Philly, of course, is where Cruz suffered the devastating patellar tendon injury that began the demise that led to his release. The Eagles, of course, are also a hated arch-rival. Oh, and their wide receivers are awful. Bleeding Green Nation has already rejected the idea, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t possible.
Washington Redskins
Another NFC East rival. The Redskins are facing the possibility of losing both Pierre Garcon and DeSean Jackson in free agency. Somebody has to catch the ball in D.C.
Jacksonville Jaguars
Because, with Tom Coughlin running the show, we are going to connect pretty much every Coughlin-era Giant available to the Jaguars. You have to know that both Cruz and Coughlin would love to stick it to the Giants in 2017.
Baltimore Ravens
They are a veteran team trying to win and Steve Smith Sr. just retired, so there is a spot available.
Carolina Panthers
Carolina doesn’t have a plethora of quality wide receivers for Cm Newton to throw to. They do have former Giants pro personnel man Dave Gettleman as their GM, and Gettleman was with the Giants when Cruz broke in. Perhaps he would be willing to see how much Cruz has left.
