Let’s open up the Big Blue View mailbag and see what New York Giants fans have on their minds as the season enters a new phase following the dismissals of coach Ben McAdoo and GM Jerry Reese.
There's rumors swirling that Marvin Lewis will be out as HC in Cinci. What would you think about bringing him in as GM? His work building the Bengals roster has really been incredible, no matter what you think about his in-game coaching. #bbvmailbag

Ed says: Honestly, I’d have no interest whatsoever. I’m not impressed at all by anything that has happened in Cincinnati during his tenure there. I have no idea whether Lewis is qualified or capable of handling that role, but for me it’s a non-starter.
Who can the giants target in free agency to help this team out for next season? #bbvmailbag

Ed says: It’s way too early to have a good read on that. We don’t know who the GM or coach is going to be. We don’t know which of their own free agents they are going to be able to keep, or want to keep. It’s not time for that discussion yet. That said, the offensive line and linebacker seem like they should be target areas when it comes to revamping the roster.
Seth Friedman asks: What changes between now and the start of next season would you recommend for the Giants to compete for a playoff spot in 2018? Or would you consider tearing it all down and moving on from the most expensive players on the roster?
Ed says: That’s a loaded pair of questions and I really can’t give a full blow-by-blow plan at this time. After hiring a new coach/GM everything starts with the quarterback decision. I’m not on the Davis Webb train, so if it’s me I want Eli Manning to stay and I am probably using my first-round pick on a QB. We’ve been over the weaknesses of the roster a zillion times. For me, I need players who I know I can trust. You have to identify and remove the problems from the locker room, and work from there. As for the high-priced guys, you can’t move on from everybody — too much in terms of cap hits. I would, though, take a long, hard look at guys you think you can win with and dump the ones you aren’t sure about. I will post a full-length plan at some point, but I’m too deep into the season, and the coach/GM searches to wrap my head around that right now.
