Giants’ injury report, 12/7: Justin Pugh’s return hits road block

Offensive lineman misses practice, goes for MRI on troublesome back

NFL: New York Giants at Tampa Bay Buccaneers Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

New York Giants offensive lineman Justin Pugh appears to have taken a step backward in his effort to return from a back injury. After being limited in practice on Wednesday, Pugh did not practice on Thursday. Instead, he went for another MRI on his back, which has kept him out since Week 10 and caused him to miss four games in all this season.

Cornerback Eli Apple (hip/back) also did not practice. Apple, the team’s 2016 first-round pick, has been inactive for the past three games. The first was due to his mom’s brain surgery, but the reasons for him being inactive the past two games have been murkier.

Jason Pierre-Paul (finger) and Orleans Darkwa (illness) also did not practice.
