With today’s early games in the books, the order at the top of the 2018 NFL Draft is now set.

The Cleveland Browns clinched the first overall pick weeks ago, but today New York Giants and Indianapolis Colts both won, securing the second overall pick for New York.

Indianapolis will be picking third overall.

What the 3-13 Giants do with the second overall pick certainly remains to be seen, and will certainly be debated to death over the coming months.

They could use what is hoped to be their highest (natural) pick for some time to select a quarterback, such as Josh Rosen, Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold, or Lamar Jackson, to be the eventual successor to Eli Manning. They could use the pick to select to select Saquon Barkley, who has the potential to be a game-changing player as a runner, receiver, and return man. Or, they could trade back and amass picks to inject young talent into their roster.

Interestingly, it was reported earlier Sunday that new GM Dave Gettleman will not be hiring anyone to replace VP of Player Evaluation Marc Ross, and instead will be running both the draft and free agency himself.

Now that the 2017 season is finally over, the work to rebuild the team for 2018 begins. The Giants now know that they’re drafting second overall and Gettleman is on the clock.
